#LiturgyOfStBasil. #HymnToTheTheotokos
This hymn replaces, ‘Ni wajibu kweli’ during the Liturgy of St Basil. This Liturgy is celebrated mainly on Lenten Sundays and on the Feast day of St Basil, 1st January.

There’s something interesting here, St John Chrysostom’s Liturgy mainly magnifies the mother of God and not glorify Her. However, from this hymn, St Basil clearly glorifies the mother of God and I couldn’t object in my chant.

There are a few changes on the following parts;
1. I found it meaningful to change the phrase; ‘la malaika na wanadamu’ to ‘kwa malaika na wanadamu’. The latter means, the mother of God is magnified above angels and human and thereby more preferable to the former.

2. The word ‘aliopo’ should be replaced by ‘aliyepo’ for it refers to a living being, the Theotokos.

All of creation rejoices in you, O full of grace: the assembly of angels and the human race. You are a sanctified temple and a spiritual paradise, the glory from whom God was incarnate and became a child; our God, existing before all ages. He made your womb a throne, and your body more spacious than the heavens. All of creation rejoices in you, O full of grace. Glory to you.
